FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

Gov. Beshear has appointed Crystal Rae Coel Coleman to the Public Advocacy Commission to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending July 15, 2010.

  • Crystal Rae Coel Coleman, of Murray, is an administrator and professor at Murray State University.  The appointment replaces Garland Hale Barr IV, who has resigned.

Gov. Beshear has appointed George William Kipphut as State Geographer to serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2011.

  • George William Kipphut, of Murray, is a professor at Murray State University. The appointment replaces Karl B. Raitz, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Gunvant C. Shah to the State Board of Proprietary Education to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending July 21, 2011.

  • Gunvant C. Shah, of Frankfort, is an engineer.  The appointment replaces Penny R. Armstrong, who has resigned.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 18th Judicial Circuit and District to serve for terms expiring Jan. 1, 2014.

  • Robert Sparks, of Carlisle, is a retired dentist.  The appointment replaces Mary June Brunker, whose term has expired.
     
  • Phillip E. Turner, of Butler, is self-employed.  The appointment replaces Karen Schulman-Bear, whose term has expired.
