Governor Orders Flags to Half-Staff on February 20
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, in honor of a Kentucky solider who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
According to the Department of Defense, Sgt. Adam J. Ray, 23, of Louisville, Ky., died Feb. 9 in southern Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.
Funeral services for Sgt. Adam J. Ray will be held on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Okalona Baptist Church in Louisville, Ky. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Louisville, Ky. immediately following the funeral services. Gov. Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on that day.
