Governor Beshear Recognizes Sacrifice of Kentucky Casualty

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear today recognized the sacrifice of a Kentucky native soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

According to the Department of Defense, Sgt. Adam J. Ray, 23, of Louisville, Ky., died Feb. 9 in southern Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.

The governor will order that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on the day of Sgt. Ray’s interment for which arrangements are still pending.
