Frankfort, Ky.  – Gov. Paul Patton and the Kentucky Department for Local Government (DLG) announced today 28 projects that will be funded with money from the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund.

DLG administers the National Park Service’s Land and Water Conservation Fund program, which is used for land acquisition for recreational development, construction of new outdoor facilities, and renovation of existing facilities.

DLG Commissioner Jody Lassiter said these funds allow local governments to provide recreational opportunities for their citizens. “The Land and Water Conservation Fund program delivers a wide range of benefits like supporting our youth and family-oriented events, our health and wellness, and planned growth and conservation activities.

“In addition, exceptional recreational facilities help attract visitors and tourists who can provide an economic boost to our local communities,” said Lassiter.
