FRANKFORT, Ky.— A third working group of the Blue Ribbon Commission on Public Employees Retirement Systems will hold its first meeting on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at 2 p.m. EDT in Room 129 of the Capitol Annex. The meeting is open to the public.
This working group, entitled “Defining a strategy to fulfill our commitments to existing employees and retirees,” is chaired by State Budget Director Brad Cowgill. Members of the committee are: Jack Adams, Kentucky State Police; Ronnie O’Nan, Kentucky Transportation Employees Association; and gubernatorial appointees David Dowell, John Hall, Andrew Jacobs, Todd Lowe, Shawn Ridley and Deborah Tudor.
This subcommittee will examine the state’s financial liabilities and study how the commonwealth will fulfill its obligations to current employees and retirees.
The first meeting will include presentations from Tom Cavanaugh, actuary for the Kentucky Retirement Systems and Ed Macdonald, actuary for the Kentucky Teachers’ Retirement System.
