FRANKFORT, Ky.The Commonwealth Office of Technology’s Division of Geographic Information is hosting the 15th Kentucky GIS Conference, Leveraging Kentucky’s Geospatial Investment, July 7-9 at the Marriott Griffin Gate Resort, Lexington, Ky.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo, who will speak about Adventure Tourism and Exploring Kentucky. The lieutenant governor will also be making a special GIS announcement during his remarks.

Kentucky enjoys an abundance of GIS data and is home to many GIS professionals, and the Kentucky GIS Conference provides an opportunity for members of the GIS community to share success stories and lessons learned.  All experience levels are represented by the attendees and the forum typically allows many opportunities for peer networking.

Nearly 400 state, local and federal government officials, as well as representatives from schools and universities, emergency management, public and private utilities, consulting firms, and hardware and software companies attended the 2007 conference.

More than 50 presentations by members of the GIS community will be featured at the conference. The  exhibit hall will include 15-20 exhibitors who will be sharing information regarding the latest GIS technology and services. In addition to presentations, conference attendees may participate in the traditional Map & Poster Contest and may enjoy a unique treasure-hunting activity which relies upon GPS navigation.
