Governor's Safety and Health Award presented to Kenergy Corp.
HENDERSON, Ky. (Dec. 12, 2006) - Kenergy Corp., whose employees have worked more than 500,000 hours without a "lost-time" injury or illness, today was presented with a 2006 Governor’s Safety and Health Award.
Philip J. Anderson, commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Labor, presented the award to Dennis Phelps, chairman of Kenergy’s safety committee, during a ceremony at company headquarters in Henderson.
The award is given to employers and employees who together have achieved a specified streak of hours worked without a lost-time episode - one in which an employee misses a full day of work - or who have gone one year without a recordable injury or illness.
Kenergy Corp. is an electric distribution cooperative serving customers in 14 western Kentucky counties. It has 159 employees.
"Improving workplace safety has been a fundamental goal of Governor Ernie Fletcher’s administration," Anderson said. "A healthy work force is indispensable to a healthy economy and strong communities, and we are pleased that Kenergy shares that vision."
