| FRANKFORT, Ky. (Nov. 6, 2003)—A northern Kentucky woman was honored with an Environmental Excellence Award last week. The Kentucky Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Cabinet (NREPC) presented 19 such honors during the Governor’s Conference on the Environment in Lexington on Oct. 27.
The northern Kentucky winner was:
Mary Kathryn Dickerson was one of three recipients of the Environmental Excellence Award for Environmental Education. Dickerson, who works for the Kenton County Conservation District, organized the first Northern Kentucky Environmental Education Forum in 1997. Her initiative led to the organization of the Northern Kentucky Environmental Education Coalition. Later renamed the Northern Kentucky Environmental Education Alliance, the organization shares resources, educates students and teachers, and provides professional development opportunities for teachers.
