Riggs named executive director of P-20 Data Collaborative
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet Secretary Helen Mountjoy today announced the appointment of Ann Riggs as executive director of the P-20 Data Collaborative.
Riggs, of Frankfort, will oversee the recently formed education collaborative that will create a longitudinal student data system that spans a student’s entire educational career.
The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), the Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE) and the Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB) are working together to build a warehouse of information from pre-kindergarten through college and into the workforce. Through a series of grants, the collaborative will make it possible for the first time to link student, teacher, postsecondary and certification data so that informed decisions about education strategies can be formulated.
Riggs, who most recently served as the chief information officer and director of the Division for Technology Services at the Education and Workforce Development Cabinet, has 30 years of experience in the technology field. Prior to joining the cabinet in 2004, Riggs owned and operated Riggs Consulting Group Inc., a technology consulting business, for 14 years.
“We are fortunate to have someone of Ann’s skills and background in education and technology to lead this ground-breaking project,” said Mountjoy, who will chair the collaborative. “She has extensive experience with education data and the foresight and vision to oversee this monumental task so that we can evaluate educational programs in the state.”
Riggs has professional technology certifications that include Microsoft, Cisco, security and project management. She also serves on the Kentucky State University Information Technology Advisory Board and ConnectKentucky’s Advisory Board.
“I’m excited to embark on this challenging project for the commonwealth. The P-20 Data Collaborative will give educators a first ever picture of each student’s progress throughout his entire educational career. Merging that data and analyzing it will provide important information about the students and Kentucky’s educational system,” Riggs said.
