KENTUCKY DIVISION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND BULLITT COUNTY JUDGE TO
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 17, 2011) Kentucky Division of Emergency Management (KYEM) will recognize four local Bullitt County citizens whose fast thinking and actions helped prevent a tragedy.
On Jan. 27, 2011, after touring the Commonwealth Energency Operations Center, loacted in Frankfort, KY. with KYEM director, John Heltzel, COL Lawrence Barrett Holmes stopped at Denny's Restaurant, ouside of Shepherdsville, Kentucky. While dining there, COL Holmes suffered a massive stroke. Recognizing possible stroke symptoms, his waitress Sandy Beanblossom called 911. Her quick thinking and the quick actions of local emergency medical responders have been credited by doctors at Louisville's Jewis Hospital as instrumental in their ability to treat COL Holmes and greatly reduce the effects of the stroke.
