CPE's Aaron Thompson to testify to House Appropriations Subcommittee on closing achievement gaps
Dr. Aaron Thompson, executive vice president and chief academic officer with the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education, will be one of five national experts to testify for the House Appropriations Subcommittee at the Oversight Hearing on Closing the Achievement Gap in Higher Education. The audience will be Labor Subcommittee members. The hearing is set tomorrow, Wednesday, March 18 at 9:30 a.m. ET. It will be webcast and those details will follow.
Thompson was asked to speak to represent Kentucky’s efforts and the national GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) community, of which Kentucky participates. Kentucky’s GEAR UP initiative has enabled Kentucky to increase college-going rates for participating low-income students by 22 percentage points.
