Todd Henson Named Public Information Officer/Open Records Coordinator for Department

Kentucky Department of Corrections Communications Director Lisa Lamb today announced that Todd Henson has been appointed as a Public Information Officer for the Department. Henson will also serve as the DOC’s Open Records Requests Coordinator.

Henson graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Police Administration. He began his career with the Kentucky State Police in July 1983. After graduating from the State Police Academy in November, 1983 he was assigned as a trooper to the State Police Post in Pikeville, Kentucky. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1989 and remained assigned to the Pikeville Post. In 1992, Henson was again promoted to Detective Lieutenant, and reassigned to the Harlan State Police Post. After serving one year at the Harlan Post, Henson was reassigned to the Dry Ridge Post were he served as Assistant Post Commander. In 2000, Henson transferred to the State Police Post in Frankfort, Kentucky. He served as the Assistant Post Commander at the Frankfort Post until his retirement on January 1, 2008.

During Henson’s tenure with the State Police, he received the Crime Prevention award in 1988, the Commissioner’s Commendation award in 1996 as well as numerous Letters of Commendation.

In the role of Public Information Officer, he will assist Lamb with media and public information requests. As the Department’s Open Records Requests Coordinator, he will coordinate all open records requests that are received by Central Office with the exception of those involving inmates that are now currently handled by Offender Information Services.

Henson currently resides in Georgetown with his wife, Tammie.
