Kevin Mazza Promoted to Deputy Warden at Western Kentucky Correctional Complex
Kentucky Department of Corrections Commissioner LaDonna H. Thompson today announced the promotion of Kevin Mazza to deputy warden at Western Kentucky Correctional Complex (WKCC) in Lyon County. His promotion is effective Sept. 16.
“Kevin Mazza has the solid level of experience and leadership skills that our institutions need in a deputy warden,” said Thompson. “His knowledge and professionalism have proved invaluable and will be a tremendous asset in his new role.”
Mazza began his career with the Department of Corrections in September 2003 as a correctional officer at the Kentucky State Reformatory (KSR). In 2005 he was promoted to sergeant and a year later was promoted to lieutenant. As lieutenant, he served as the internal affairs officer for the institution.
In 2007 Mazza was promoted to captain and later promoted to correctional industries manager. In 2012 he returned to security as an administrative captain and was promoted to senior captain in 2013.
“WKCC welcomes Kevin Mazza to his new position as deputy warden of security,” said Warden Steve Woodward. “His years of leadership experience have been honed and tempered at the Kentucky State Reformatory and will serve him well as he assumes this new challenge in the west.”
Mazza has been recognized with numerous awards during his career, including employee of the month, volunteer of the year, and the DOC achievement award from KSR.
