Kentucky Department of Corrections Director of Probation & Parole Tim Carman today announced the promotion of Kerry Mears to assistant supervisor of District 19 in Louisville. District 19 is one of four supervision districts in Jefferson County. Mears assumed her new duties Jan. 16.

“Kerry has a great deal of experience and a proven record of adaptability and dedication,” said Carman. “I know she will be a true asset as this division moves forward with expanded reentry practices.”

Mears, who served honorably in the United States Air Force, was stationed in Tokyo for a time serving as a senior airman. She received her discharge in 1994. She started her career with the Division of Probation and Parole as an officer in District 19 in 2008. She transferred to District 12 in 2011. While working for the division Mears assisted in the development of the PORTAL reentry program in District 12. She has also taught motivational interviewing at both in-service and basic academy training.

Mears is a 2007 graduate of the University of North Texas where she earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
