The Department of Corrections Training Division received a perfect score during its audit with the American Correctional Association (ACA). The audit requires one year of documentation, but the entire process took 15 months to complete.

The Division of Corrections Training is charged with planning, coordinating and conducting training for new and current employees, Probation and Parole Officers and elected Jailers and their staff.

“The Training Division did a phenomenal job,” said Scott Carlsen, the chairperson of the audit team. “The files were in great shape and any suggestions for improvement from the auditors were immediately implemented by the staff.” He said their only regret was not having enough time to visit all the regional training sites.

Commissioner LaDonna Thompson also congratulated the Department’s Training Division. “I’m very proud of the Training Division staff,” said Thompson.  “It takes a great deal of dedication to meet the very tough standards that are in place for an ACA audit and to receive a perfect score is an outstanding achievement. The audit is an affirmation of the fine training provided by the division.”

The Director of the Training Division, Chris Kleymeyer, offered his appreciation for the auditors’ hard work and praised his staff for the results of the audit. “They are responsible for this high score.”

The ACA audit contained 103 standards, which consisted of 13 mandatory standards and 90 non-mandatory standards. The Training Division scored 100 percent on all these standards.
