| LOUISVILLE, Ky.-The Cabinet for Families and Children will host a reception for foster parents of children with special medical needs on Tuesday, Dec. 2, on the fourth floor of the L&N Building, 908 W. Broadway, Louisville. Current and prospective foster parents of medically fragile children will be welcome at the event, scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Cabinet’s foster care program provides homes for children placed in the state’s custody. The Cabinet is having difficulty recruiting and retaining foster parents who will care for children with multiple medical conditions, such as cancer, diabetes and disabilities that limit mobility.
Foster parents who care for such children must undergo special training. Cabinet staff want to show these parents appreciation for their service and welcome those who might be interested in becoming foster parents for medically fragile children.
Interested individuals may call 595-KIDS (5437) for more information regarding the event or becoming a foster or adoptive parent. |
