| Original Figures Presented Tuesday Did Not Account for Additional $9.2 Million Added to the Program
Frankfort, KY: Today, the Personnel Cabinet announced that it has revised the monthly premiums for state employees and teachers after discovering the original numbers did not account for the additional $9.2 million Governor Fletcher applied to the program. The Commonwealth Essential and Commonwealth Preferred plans are affected substantially by this revision.
"We were right on target for what the total program cost was going to be, but it was discovered that premium levels for employees were too high,” said Secretary Bob Ramsey. “After figuring in the additional $9.2 million, we were able to come up with a much lower number for the majority of our plans.”
The additional $9.2 million was put into the health insurance plan by Governor Fletcher after state revenues had increased higher than previous budget office projections. Additionally, a separate figure of $19.8 million was applied directly to increase teacher and state employee salaries.
The new state employee health insurance rates can be found at http://personnel.ky.gov/dei.htm. The revised grids are also enclosed. The revised numbers are in black, the previously announced numbers are in red.
