Attorney General Jack Conway and United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, James Zerhusen, jointly announce the indictment of Joshua Slone, 27, of Dema, in Knott County, for receiving and possessing child pornography. A federal grand jury in London, Ky. returned the indictment February 26.

The indictment alleges that from on or about June 27, 2008, and continuing through on or about October 12, 2008, Slone received numerous images and videos containing minor children engaged in various forms of sexually explicit conduct. The indictment also alleges that Slone possessed the material on electronic storage media, to include a computer.

The investigation preceding the indictment was conducted by the Office of the Attorney General’s Department of Criminal Investigations. The indictment was presented to the grand jury by Assistant United States Attorney Erin J. May.

Slone was taken into custody by DCI and Kentucky State Police. He was transported to U.S. District Court in Pikeville where he made his initial appearance before the court. Sloan was detained pending further action of the court.

If convicted, Slone faces a maximum prison sentence of 20 years. However, any sentence following conviction would be imposed by the court after consideration of the United States Sentencing Guidelines and the federal statute governing the imposition of sentences.

An indictment is an accusation only. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
