Two Christian County Men Indicted for Possession of Child Pornography

Attorney General Jack Conway and his Department of Criminal Investigations (DCI) today announced the indictments of two Christian County men for possession of child pornography. A Christian County grand jury indicted Mathew Simpson and Michael Myers, both of Oak Grove, on January 22, 2010. The indictments involve charges that are unrelated and followed separate investigations by DCI’s Cybercrimes Unit, a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC).

Simpson was indicted on 15 counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor for alleging possessing both video files and still images depicting child pornography on or between May 22 and September 29, 2009. He was arrested by the Christian County Sheriff’s Department on January 28, 2010 and lodged in the Christian County jail. Simpson faces arraignment on February 3 at 1:00 p.m.

Myers was indicted on 27 counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor for alleging possessing both videos and pictures depicting child pornography on or before September 29. He was arrested on January 27, 2010, also by the Christian County Sheriffs Department, and lodged in the Christian County jail. His arraignment is February 10 at 1:00 p.m.

Both Simpson and Myers are being held on a $50,000 full cash bond. Search warrants were executed in each case with the assistance of the Oak Grove Police Department.

A charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
