Marion County Man Arrested for Possession of Child Pornography
Attorney General Jack Conway and his Department of Criminal Investigations (DCI) today announced the arrest of 45-year-old Sherman Pike, of Lebanon, in Marion County, for possession of child pornography.
Investigators from General Conway's Cybercrimes Unit arrested Pike, with assistance from the Marion County Sheriff's Department and Lebanon Police Department, after executing a search warrant at his home on Monday, February 1, 2010. Pike, a convicted sex offender, is charged with four counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. He faces arraignment tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. in Marion District Court. Pike's bond is set at $200,000 full cash.
Pike is a lifetime registered sex offender, having been convicted in TN in 1991 of aggravated sexual battery involving a 10-year-old. His arrest yesterday stems from an investigation that began in October 2009 by the Office of the Attorney General's Cybercrimes Unit, a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC).
Additionally, Marion County Animal Control removed at least a dozen Chihuahuas from the residence. The dogs are now in protective custody.
A charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
