Attorney General Conway Announces Nine-year Prison Sentence for Convicted Child Pornographer
Attorney General Jack Conway has announced a nine-year prison sentence for a convicted child pornographer from Bracken County. Ronald Peed, Jr., was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Covington, Ky. on July 23 on a charge of receiving child pornography. Peed will also be supervised by U.S. Probation for 15 years following his release from federal prison.
The charges against Peed were the result of an investigation by General Conway’s Cybercrimes Unit, a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and the FBI. Peed pled guilty in April 2010 to downloading at least 600 images of child pornography, some depicting violent and sadistic acts of child abuse.
"I appreciate the continued hard work of my Cybercrimes Unit in investigating and removing child pornographers from the Internet," General Conway said. "I also appreciate the continued cooperation with our local and federal law enforcement partners in bringing this case to a close and helping us make the Internet a safer place for Kentucky kids."
The prosecution of the case was handled by the Fort Mitchell Branch of the U.S. Attorney's office. Under federal law, Peed must serve at least 85% of his prison term. Upon release, he will be required to register as a sex offender for life.
