Office of the Attorney General Investigator Receives Prestigious Award
Attorney General Jack Conway is pleased to announce that Nikki Henderson, an investigator in his Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Control, is the recipient of the 2010 "Champion for the Aging" Award presented by ElderServe, Inc. The award was presented at ElderServe's annual Champion for the Aging Luncheon at noon on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel ballroom in Louisville.
"Nikki is a tireless crusader against elder abuse, and I am honored to have her on my staff," General Conway said. "We are thrilled that ElderServe is recognizing Nikki's accomplishments and her dedication to protecting Kentucky's senior citizens by presenting her with this prestigious award."
Before being hired by the Office of the Attorney General in 2006, Henderson worked in the Division of Aging Services at the Cabinet for Health and Families. She is a retired Sergeant from the Louisville Metro Police Department, where she worked to create the Jefferson County Police Crimes Against Seniors Unit and has been the Issue Specialist for Elder Abuse in Kentucky for the American Association of Retired Person (AARP). Henderson also received the first annual "Kentucky Aging Network 2005 Advocate of the Year Award" and received the "Kentucky Women's Law Enforcement Network's Lifetime Achievement Award" in 2008.
ElderServe is a non-profit corporation that offers a wide variety of services to senior citizens, both homebound and those who are active. Its mission is to provide a wide range of supportive human services that enables older persons to live secure and self directed lives. Since General Conway took office in January 2008, his Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Control has tripled the number of elder abuse investigations and increased six-fold the amount of Medicaid Fraud recovery for Kentucky taxpayers.
