- Attorney General Conway Announces Guilty Plea of Former Social Worker for Falsifying Child Abuse and Neglect Reports
Tuesday, May 22, 2012 Attorney General Jack Conway announced the guilty plea today of a former social worker with the Cabinet for Health and Family Services to nine felony counts of tampering with public records. Sixty-one-year-old Margaret "Geri" Murphy entered the guilty plea in Anderson Circuit Court in connection with her role as a front-line worker investigating allegations of child abuse and neglect in Anderson County. Reports of child abuse and neglect are assigned to a social worker to investigate and file a report finding the abuse or neglect is substantiated or unsubstantiated. In all nine investigations charged in the indictment, Murphy documented that child abuse or neglect was unsubstantiated.

- Kentucky to Join $90 Million Medicaid Suit against Healthpoint, Ltd.
Friday, May 18, 2012 Attorney General Jack Conway and his Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Control announced today that Kentucky will intervene in a civil lawsuit against Healthpoint, Ltd. in United States District Court, District of Massachusetts. The Commonwealth's motion to intervene in the $90 million whistleblower lawsuit was granted on May 16, 2012.
- Lexington Man Arrested on Child Pornography Charges
Wednesday, May 16, 2012 Attorney General Jack Conway today announced the arrest of a Lexington, Ky. man for possession of child pornography. Investigators from the Attorney General's Cybercrimes Unit, with assistance from Lexington Metro Police, arrested 41-year-old Eliazar Rincon today after executing a search warrant at his Lexington home. Rincon is charged with four counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, a Class D felony.

Tuesday, May 15, 2012 Attorney General Jack Conway today announced that he has recovered $6 million on behalf of the Kentucky Medicaid program following a settlement with Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp. f/k/a Merck & Co., Inc. This is the latest in a number of settlements in so-called Average Wholesale Price or AWP lawsuits filed by the Office of the Attorney General against 47 of the nation's largest pharmaceutical companies.

Tuesday, April 10, 2012 Attorney General Jack Conway today announced the sentencing of a Logan County man for possession and distribution of child pornography. A Logan Circuit Court judge sentenced 49-year-old Roger Dale Cropper on April 5, 2012 to seven years in prison after he pled guilty to one count of distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor and one count of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. Cropper will also be required to register as a lifetime sex offender.

Tuesday, March 27, 2012 Attorney General Jack Conway today announced the arrest of a Paducah man on child pornography charges. General Conway's Cybercrimes investigators, with assistance from the Paducah Police Department, arrested 26-year-old Mathew Ferreira yesterday on nine counts of use of a minor in a sexual performance, 13 counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor and seven counts of distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. Ferreira was lodged in the McCracken County Jail on a $50,000 cash bond.

Tuesday, March 27, 2012 Attorney General Jack Conway today announced that his office will again host training for police officers and local prosecutors about the effective prosecution of DUI cases. The regional DUI training will be held Wednesday, March 28 through Friday, March 30 at the Radisson Hotel Cincinnati Riverfront in Covington, Ky. The training is coordinated through the Attorney General's Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor Program. Wednesday, February 29, 2012 Attorney General Jack Conway today announced that an agreement has been reached over allegations of misleading advertising by a Portsmouth, Ohio hospital that markets its services to Kentucky consumers. - Hardin County Jury Recommends Death for Convicted Serial Killer Michael St. Clair
Monday, January 23, 2012 Attorney General Jack Conway and his Office of Special Prosecutions announced that a Hardin County jury has issued a unanimous verdict of death for Michael St. Clair after being convicted on capital kidnapping and other charges in connection with 1991 abduction and murder of Frank Brady. The jury returned its penalty verdict late Friday, January 20, 2012 after a three-week trial and less than two hours of deliberations. The Hardin Circuit Court jury was empanelled following a reversal by the Kentucky Supreme Court in 2010 on an evidentiary ruling.

Monday, January 23, 2012 Attorney General Jack Conway today announced the indictment and arrest of a former nurse at the Cumberland Valley Manor Nursing Home in Burkesville, Ky. on charges of neglect of an adult and theft of a controlled substance. A Cumberland County grand jury indicted 41-year-old Jinger Butler on January 19, 2012 on 11 counts of neglect and 11 counts of theft of a controlled substance following an investigation by General Conway's Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Control and the Burkesville Police Department. Members of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office took Butler into custody on January 21. She was released on her own recognizance.

Monday, January 23, 2012 Attorney General Jack Conway is joining the attorneys general from nine other states in seeking information about the recent data breach at Zappos.com, Inc. that affected more than 24 million customers nationwide. In a letter written by Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen to Zappos.com, the attorneys general ask the online retailer to provide details about the company's actions in response to the breach and its efforts to protect consumers' sensitive information.

Friday, January 06, 2012 Attorney General Jack Conway is alerting consumers about a new telemarketing scam that is making its way across Kentucky. General Conway's Office of Consumer Protection has received more than two dozen complaints since mid-November about a "Tech Support" telemarketing scam. Consumers report that the scammers impersonate tech support specialists who claim to have detected a virus on the victims' computer.

Monday, December 12, 2011 Attorney General Jack Conway, Kerry B. Harvey, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky and Robert L. Corso, Special Agent in Charge, DEA, jointly announced today the guilty plea in federal court of a Paintsville, Ky. doctor accused of fraudulently dispensing prescription pills in Eastern Kentucky. Dr. Richard Albert, 64, pled guilty today in U.S. District Court in Pikeville to conspiring to distribute and dispense controlled substances.

Monday, December 12, 2011 Attorney General Jack Conway today announced that his office will again host training for police officers and local prosecutors about the effective prosecution of DUI cases at a regional seminar on Wednesday, December 14 through Friday, December 16 at the Hilton Suites at Lexington Green in Lexington, Ky. The training is coordinated through the Office of the Attorney General's (OAG) Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor Program. The goal of the training is to create a team-building approach in the detection, apprehension and prosecution of impaired drivers.

Monday, December 12, 2011 Attorney General Jack Conway today announced the guilty plea in federal court of a Louisville man who sent child pornography to the Attorney General's office. Andrew Edwards was charged with sending an email message from United Kentucky Liberation Front to the Kentucky Attorney General's Office, consumer protection division on August 6, 2010.

Thursday, December 08, 2011 Attorney General Jack Conway today announced the arrest of a Kenton County man on child pornography charges. Sixty-one-year-old Glenn Hurtt of Covington, Ky. was arrested by Covington Police on December 5, 2011 on one count of distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor and three counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.
- Lexington Man Pleads Guilty to Distributing Child Pornography
Thursday, December 08, 2011 Attorney General Jack Conway, Kerry B. Harvey, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky and the FBI jointly announce the guilty plea of a Lexington man on one count of distribution of child pornography. Thirty-seven-year-old William K. Hainsworth, a registered sex offender, pled guilty in U.S. District Court in Lexington yesterday. The charges against Hainsworth were the result of an investigation by General Conway's Cybercrimes Unit and the FBI. Prosecution of this case is being handled by the U.S. Attorney's office for the Eastern District of Kentucky.

- Madison County Man Indicted in Child Pornography Case Following Attorney General's Investigation
Wednesday, December 07, 2011 Attorney General Jack Conway today announced the arrest and indictment of a Madison County man for possession of child pornography. A Madison County grand jury today indicted 36-year-old James Rogers, a former Richmond Police officer, on 10 counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor following an investigation by General Conway's Cybercrimes Unit. Cybercrimes investigators, with assistance from Kentucky State Police, arrested Rogers on Tuesday, December 6 at his Richmond, Ky. home following the execution of a search warrant. Rogers is currently lodged in the Madison County Detention Center in lieu of $100,000 bond.
